Here’s a quick Friday Five to take us into the B.C. Day long weekend.

1. Add the Vancouver Sun to the CTF and the growing list of provincial watchdogs calling for the Pacific Carbon Trust to be shut down. From their lead editorial today: “What may have sounded good in theory when the PCT was set up as part of then-premier Gordon Campbell’s climate plan has turned out to be an expensive failure and should be wound up.” 

2. The Transit Police (Hi Chief Neil Dubord! Don’t forget to monitor this post!) are under fire for their decision to announce where they will be checking for fare evasion. I have to agree: letting fare evaders know where you’ll be checking is goofier than a three dollar bill.

3. Hear, hear! From the Abbotsford News: “Political pension plans are a disgrace and do nothing to counter the perception (which is reality) that entering the political arena is the path to setting yourself up for life, with your retirement funded well by taxpayers who can barely get by.” Sums it up perfectly!

4. Look what Shane Woodford of CKNW found buried in the provincial government’s credit card bills: “Somebody in the Ministry of Forests had 3 transactions at Hooters in Edmonton equaling $374.” Your tax dollars at work… sick, isn’t it?
